Last week, we talked about the Shelter Snip program. The Community Snip and Chip program is similar, except it’s available to people in our communities. We still need a sponsor or sponsors willing to put up $1000. This enables us to do a low-cost spay and neuter event. Our current package covers spay or neuter, post-surgical pain meds injected at the time of surgery, rabies vaccination, heartworm test for dogs six months or older, and microchip (free registration and transfer to you). Our current cost to pet owners for this package is $100 for dogs and female cats and $50 for male cats.
At the beginning of the year, our goal was to be able to do one per month. We’re thrilled to have the local support to do this and sometimes, we’ve been able to do two in a month.
We’d love to come to your community. We need a place for the doctor to set up a mobile surgical unit (air conditioning in the hotter months is needed for the surgical area), a local point of contact, preferably able to be on-site with us all day, and a sponsor or sponsors.
Our last event was in Milano on August 12th. Our next two events are just for county cats on August 20th and August 26th. They will be held at the Cameron Animal Shelter. August 20th is a regular Snip and Chip for Milam County cats. August 26th is only for Milam County Feral or Barn Cats ($50 but no rabies certificate, bloodwork, or microchip). Email Crystal Denman and Jason Scheffel at MTOLSnipandChip@gmail.com or text them at (254) 307-8525. Crystal and Jason need to give their employers full attention during the day, so emailing and texting allows them to do that.
