How to Help Our Animal Friends
Have you found an animal? Do you need to find a home for one? One way you can help Milam Touch of Love is to jump in and help animals at the right place at the right time. Look here to find resources to guide you.
We will be updating this page often. Let us know if you find resources we haven’t listed here.
Cameron
The City of Cameron Pound is located 1200 E Gillis. It is open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday. To contact the Cameron Animal Control Officer, call the Cameron Police Department at 254-697-6574 and ask for Sandra, the “ACO.” If you live within Cameron City Limits and are missing a dog, please check there first.
Rockdale
The Animal Control Officer responds to calls involving animals at large, barking dogs, and removal of dead animals from public property and streets. The animal shelter is located at 290 Beverly Dr. To have a pet released or to adopt a pet, please call 512-446-3436. For more information, see their website. You can also find some of their available animals on Petfinder.
The Rockdale PAWS group works with the Rockdale animal shelter to find homes for adoptable dogs in the area. They can be reached at 512-799-8502.
Another Rockdale facility is Dogtown Ranch Sanctuary.
County-wide
The Milam Touch of Love Facebook page is open for anyone to post lost animals, found animals, and animals looking for homes. If you find an animal outside of the Cameron or Rockdale City Limits, this group can help you find a foster home or new owner.
The Milam County Lost and Found Pets Facebook page also has lost and found listings. Please cross post to our Milam Touch of Love group if you are also on this one.
